Chichen Itza, Tulum, Mexico – AMERICA

It is one of the most important archaeological sites, World Heritage of UNESCO

Chichen Itza is an ancient Mayan city located between Valladolid and Merida. It is one of the most important archaeological sites, World Heritage of UNESCO and elected as one of the new seven wonders of the world. An overwhelming heat cut short my visit (30 min). El Castillo (the pyramid) remains the most impressive and best preserved building of the site. (see below). Regarding the end of the world, the Mayans were right: their city was turned into a tourist attraction surrounded by a good fifty merchants. Even the aisles are lined with souvenir stalls of Mexican art. I know it takes to earn a crust but the charm of the site is broken. Limit funfair in much less noisy.
If the Mayan ancestors saw it today …
